The Speedmaster ref. CK 2998 was the first OMEGA to reach space, when astronaut Walter Schirra wore the watch during the ‘Sigma 7’ mission of the Mercury Programme in 1962. Schirra had purchased the watch for his own use, but two and a half years later, the Speedmaster would be officially certified by NASA for all manned-missions, launching it into history.
50 years on from Schirra’s historic mission, we celebrated the first OMEGA in space, by creating an updated model of his iconic Speedmaster. Respectfully and subtly redesigned for the 21st century; the new Moonwatch features the same black dial, black bezel and stainless steel case with symmetric lugs. Each Replica OMEGA Speedmaster is individually numbered, so The Moonwatch can be traced to a particular space in time. The stainless steel caseback is also embossed with the original 1962 Seahorse medallion.
Precision and precious-metal combine in the updated 18K Sedna gold model, which is based on the original ‘pre-professional’ Speedmaster. The case, indexes and OMEGA logo are all made of 18K Sedna gold. The hour, minute, seconds and sub-dial hands are also crafted from 18K Sedna gold. The central chronograph hand is gold-plated. Engraved on the caseback are the words “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE”, “OCTOBER 3, 1962”.
The opaline silvery dial of the updated 18K Sedna gold Speedmaster, is complimented by a unique brown polished ceramic bezel ring and a matt chromium nitride tachymeter scale. This rich brown colour is also included on the PVD subdials and minutes track. A classic brown leather strap completes the look.
At the heart of this chronograph is OMEGA’s calibre 1861, the famous manual-winding movement that was worn on the moon. Why improve on perfection? It worked beautifully in space, it works perfectly on Earth.
The OMEGA Speedmaster is one of OMEGA’s most iconic timepieces. The Moonwatch “First Omega in Space” was inspired by the watch worn by astronaut Wally Shirra in 1962 as he orbited the earth during the “Sigma 7” mission.

This numbered edition model features a bold varnished black dial with a small seconds dial, a 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder, along with a central chronograph hand and a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The black bezel, with its tachymetric scale, is mounted on a 39.7 mm stainless steel case with symmetric lugs, and the watch is presented on a brown leather strap.

At the heart of this chronograph is OMEGA’s calibre 1861, the famous manual-winding movement that was worn on the moon, which is covered by a caseback embossed with the original 1962 Seahorse.

THE REPLICA OMEGA SPEEDMASTER CK 2998 LIMITED EDITION

The original CK 2998 was released in 1959 and has since become one of the most popular vintage Speedmasters in the world. Today, OMEGA has used that classic design as inspiration for a new timepiece limited to 2,998 models.
The 39.7 mm watch is built with a stainless steel case and a lightly sand-blasted silvery dial featuring three black subdials. Blackened “Alpha” hands and a varnished red seconds hand tick around the minute track, while the driver-style black leather strap is micro-perforated with a white rubber interior.
With the original CK 2998, customers were able to choose from four different versions of the timing bezel (including tachymeter, pulsometer, decimal or telemeter). This new model places its white enamel pulsometer scale, for checking heartbeats per minute, on a black ceramic bezel.
Each unique Limited Edition number can be found on the caseback, along with the original Seahorse medallion. More CK 2998 heritage can be found on the inside thanks to the OMEGA Replica Watch Calibre 1861, a movement that is deeply rooted in Moonwatch history.

THE Replica OMEGA SPEEDMASTER “WHITE SIDE OF THE MOON”

OMEGA is proud to introduce yet another innovative timepiece inspired not by astronauts’ views of the Moon in space, but rather the radiance of the celestial body as seen from Earth: the OMEGA Speedmaster White Side of the Moon.
The white zirconium oxide ceramic dial features 18K white gold hands and applied indexes. The tip of the central chronograph seconds hand is red and matches the colour of the name of the family printed on the centre of the dial.
This eye-catching chronograph is the third in Replica OMEGA watches selection of solid ceramic timepieces. It has a brushed and polished 44.25 mm white ceramic casebody, a polished white ceramic bezel with a matt chromium nitride tachymeter scale and polished ceramic pushers.
The timepieces start out as raw ceramic powder. Once pressed into the desired shape of the casebody, they are sintered until they shrink to their final size. The cases are then machined using diamond tools in order to achieve the edges and grooves that give the casebody its eye-catching definition. The Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon undergoes one extra step: its case is transformed from white to grey in a plasma furnace that has been heated to 20,000°C.
In addition to the classic Omega White Side of the Moon with a tachymetric scale on its ceramic bezel, OMEGA has also created a model with 74 diamonds set in Pt850 platinum Liquidmetal. With or without diamonds, the Speedmaster has never been more luxurious.

COLLIN MORIKAWA WINS THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP
